Has anyone installed a gold bead front sight on their XD? How does it compares with Fiber optics & TFO?

No.
I pulled the gold bead sight off of my shotgun and put on a fiber optic why would I do the opposite for my defensive guns...?
There's a lot to be said about gold bead front sights. They are a lot more durable than a FO, for starters; and they also don't wash out in certain light conditions.

OP, I'd say give it a try.
Cuda made me google this ... I really thought this "crystal" sight thing was a new trend ; didn't know it was actually practiced. Sorry for all of my comments regarding these sights.

I still say FO / TFO's are king of kings when it comes to handgun sights but the gold bead looks cool on a 1911.
I had a gold bead on my EMP..
I liked it, but ended up selling the pistol..

SACS gold bead front and a black 10-8 rear..

They sure look cool. The gold beads were all the sh*t before tritium got affordable enough for us great unwashed hoardes...Thank You, bucks-up early adopters.
Gun-guys tend to also be gadget-guys and like to have the newest, best thing and i think, nostalgia aside, there are better choices for a combat handgun...like the TFOs you mentioned.
That being said, I think an XD with a gold bead front sight would be bitchin'.
Personally, I'd never consider TFO's, or any FO on a fighting handgun--far too fragile.

Gold beads can't puke a tube, or have their tritium vial rupture or have a half-life...gold doesn't tarnish, and has a high albedo so will reflect light in dim conditions.

That being said...I do run tritium (mainly Trijicon) on most of my social handguns.

FO rods are fragile when not taken care of, like any other part of your firearm.

First they must be installed properly, which a one eyed monkey with a bic and nail clipper can do and use not toxic cleaner on your gun. This is the remedy to long lasting FO rods.

Brass sights are useful in about in most situations. I have never shot any low light/no light situations with them though.
