All handguns? Thought long guns could be transferred across state lines without using ffl if the recipient could legally possess.

That's my understanding as well, long guns are different and are good to go if the receiving party's state allows them to be owned.

Handguns from state to state should go through an FFL for the transaction to be above board, so to speak.
