Technically, they needed to go through an FFL. Usually only citizens of that state can sell/give firearms to other citizens of that state. When citizenship crosses a border, an FFL needs to be involved.

In his case, he already has possession of the guns in Alabama. Got them in Texas. What should he do to handle it now?

It’s already done. I wouldn’t worry about it. Just don’t make a habit of it.
