Now that ghost rings have been available for awhile for XD's, I'm wondering about real-life evaluations. I find that peep sites really help me when shooting rifles. I have a hard time picking up the front site due to aging eyes. It seems like ghost rings might be a good idea. From some time ago, I bookmarked an Entreprise Arms site selling ghost rings. Are these a good brand for the XD? Any others that should be considered?

Thanks.

i know you asked for real life evals...of which i can't give you. BUT...for the real life evals i've read on the subject...people like them for daylight shooting...but tend to say that nighttime, or lowlight shooting is nearly impossible to line up the sights.

just, something to consider. :)

I know several guys that have the ghost ring sights and like them. But just a note that if your are planning on shooting IDPA competition, they are not legal for the sport. OK for IPSC though.

had mine for a week.. the front sight is not glowing anymore.wtf?
Your gunsmith or whoever installed them must have broken the tritium vial, they are made of glass, and let the radioisotope leak out. Tritium has a halflife of 12+ years so the sights should glow at leas that long. Check if you can get warranty replacement maybe. BTW, your gun may now be considered hazmat if this happened, please do not visit any places with radiation monitors, you may set off alarm.

well they are sending one out asap. and i installed it, and did it to thier specs.. ( used puhcn at the dovetail, not on the sight.) i wont be going anywhere that monitors radiaton.

also, does anyone know if certain gun cleaners are bad for this sight? or which ( action cleaner ) is safe for it and the polymer frame? i used break free, powder blast and it removed the paint from the top of the front sight. im not gonna use anymore, but what is safe?
