Good morning all!

I'm in the market for new Sub-compact and right now the XD in either .40 or 9 are at the top of that list.
I am looking forward learning from yall.

Howdy.

The list of good reliable sub-compacts are extensive.

Thoughts to consider:

1. Price
2. Reliability
3. Handling
4. Sights
5. Trigger
6. Magazine capacity
7. Legality in your state
8. Availability
9. Cost of accessories (magazines, holster, optics if you want them, and etc.)
10. Handiness
11. Conceal ability
12. Cost and available ammo in your area

Absolutely agree.
I own other fire arms, but not a subcompact.
Conceal ability and reliability are my top 2 when it comes to my next firearm purchase.

I have the "standard" XD-9 Subcompact, with 3" barrel, as pictured at left. I do not concealed carry it at this time. However, if I were going to do so, I think I might be looking at something in a single-stack (XDS). This XD has mucho firepower with 13- and 16-round mags. But to me it's a bit fat, frankly, at least for a waistband rig. Perhaps a shoulder holster would work well? Then again, your title says Cali, can you guys even have those big magazines like that. ??

With that said, I love shooting the thing, and would broadly give it a positive recommendation. I'm sure there are forum members who are comfortably carrying it.
