That list is extremely conservative with the food expiration dates. Most of the foods listed there last well beyond what they suggest.

I've drunk tang that was much older than 24 months. I'd guess closer to 60, probably even more.

I've eaten Brit MREs that were expired by 5 years. Not 5 years old, 5 years expired. Tasted fine.
