First Day of shooting my XD40 service...

IT was great! I hit the paper every time, and bullets landed everywhere that I pointed.

I found that if I placed the center dot just a hair higher than the outer two, it was point of aim and dead on. I think that was either 7 or 10 yards. When I was off, I knew it before the bullet hit the paper, because I had altered my aim slightly.

I put 100 rounds down range, of two different brands. "Precision Made"(unknown grain) and a 180 grain winchester. I think I noticed a slight difference, and I felt that the PM was shooting better? I am sure it was just me.

Anyway my XD40 Bi-Tone service did very well, and I am ready to get back to the range and shoot some more! :p

Congrats on your purchase. You'll find that shooting the XD will cause you to want to shoot it again. And again. And again.
Shooting the XD reminds me the Huey Lewis song "I want a new drug..."
Well, I think I've found one.
They say the first step in getting help is admitting you have a problem. The only problem is, I don't want the cure!

LOCK AND LOAD GENTLEMEN!
It performed well right out of the box didn't it?? Mine sure did.
I still need to practice and practice some more......it'll take a few million rounds I'm sure :D
Have fun with your XD
Right out of the box, no problems. MY first handgun ...awesome.
Glad to hear you like it! This weekend we were shooting some bowling pins, and the best we were doing was 3/5 w/ 1911's. Getting tired of sucking, I whipped out my XD and proceeded to shoot all 5 of 5 in about 5 seconds, making for a fairly impressive showing.

I didn't want to admit that it wasn't me; it's just that the XD is one of the few guns that does more than it's fair share (I believe that, anyway :) ) God knows the 1911 isn't going to do any more than it has to...
What is it with people and bowling pins?!
I always used empty beer cans 8)

Bowling pins are actually a lot of fun to shoot. Besides, they're easier to see in videos that you post on the internet on your favorite XD forum than coke/beer cans.
I shot a bowling ball once....but never bowling pins.
Hmmm.....

I've shot a bowling ball w/ a 7mm-08 deer rifle...That made quite the mess. I've shot everything. Empty cans, Full cans, half full 5 lb. LP tank, bowling pins, wood carvings...But my fave has to be 1 gallon milk jugs. But EVERYTHING is fun to shoot.
I need to talk to the range that I normally go to because I have a mini-keg of beer that I want to shoot. I bought it for some friends and they didn't like it and I don't drink beer, so my next thought was to shoot it

If they let you do that...MAKE SURE IT'S ON VIDEO
Your expereince was almost identical to mine with my XD-40 Service model. I had no failures, several tight groups and the thing hit dead-on with a six-oclock hold. I too was hooked!

Everyone was telling me the 40SW recoil was snappy and hard to control and the 40SW was not as accurate as the 9 or 45 and it was unreliable. I simply found this to be not true with the XD-40. Not at all.

Keep shooting and the trigger will get better...or maybe you'll get more used to it, I dunno.

I love mine and was not expecting to get as attached to this thing as I am. I shoot the XD-40 more than I do my 1911s. Thats scary!

Not scary.....just shows a point that the Xd is a fabulous weapon.
I'm sure there are others just as good..but I have yet to find one.
At least in my price range
