Hey Folks,
I just got my Sub XD9 and I am trying to get some idea from other large folks on concealed carry and what they are finding comfortable. I know there are things like the fanny pack or safepacker, but any suggestions for IWB or maybe even OWB ?

I use a Don Hume IWB for my SC with no problems and I'm 6' 300lbs. I am going to switch to either an Answer or a C-Tac and give that a try too. I also use a Galco Miami shoulder rig under a sport coat or jacket.

I've been using Ted Blocker LFI rigs (IWB type) for my last three carry guns, over a period of 20 years or so. Whenever I change carry guns, I just order a new LFI rig. FIST now has a kydex holster made in the LFI style with velcro attachment. I bought one for use with a XD Sub, but I haven't been able to find a sub with a stainless slide, so I can't comment on it.

LFI rig has been the only IWB holster that I've found to be confortable. I'm 5'10, 230# for reference.

i'm about 5'11" and about 285 and I carry my XD and my CZ p01 in a cheap $5 soft nylon IWB that clips on, it's nice because I can reposition it if I need to without showing the gun and It can be put on and removed without removing the pants...

I wear it in the 2-3 o'clock position depending on my activity for the day...

Both the XD 40 and the p01 conceal very well with this setup...

I BEEN CARRYING MY XD-9 IN A UNCLE MIKE IWB HOLSTER FOR ABOUT A YEAR NOW. THE ONLY THING DIFFRENT THAT I DO IS THAT I HAVE A 2IN. WEB BELT I USE TO HOLD IT ON . THEN I PUT MY PANTS ON OVER THAT. IT SEEMS TO WORK FINE FOR ME I'VE USED OTHER HOLSTERS WITH THIS SAME METHOD.I'M IN THE PEST CONTROL FIELD ,I WORK WITH THIS ALL DAY.

I use an uncle mikes sidekick and it works well just make sure to wear the right size pants for IWB or it can be uncomfortable after awhile (sitting down) for me it begins to poke in my side. I just bought an XD gear OWB polymer holster like the ones that come with the current XD special. I haven't worn it out in "true" public just to the range. It is a lot more comfortable for sitting and and all around, but it sits a little too far away from my body, plus with possible retention issues I don't know if I want to use it for CC. Because of my weight I don't like to wear a belt but it looks like in order to get the best retention and fit I need to get a belt.

Ditto on buying the right size pants... You need to go at least one size bigger if you want to be comfortable...

that is mostly gonna depend on the gun and holster...

and NEVER go without an undershirt... major discomfort will follow...

i am 6' and a good healthy 340. So I am short and round...I will look at the "answer" and maybe some other options? Anyone use a smartcarry or thunderwear ?
A buddy of mine is about your size. He's a dump truck drivin' bib overalls wearin' kind of guy. He's been wearing a Smartcarry for several months and really likes it. I'm planning on getting one for myself soon.

Third, except when you wear your pants normally and the "roll" pushes the grip of the gun out and makes it print all the time.

Hmm, sounds like I need to try out some different rigs.

For those that have friends with Smartcarry's if you wouldn't mine asking them something. When drawing the firearm is it any mroe difficult because of the manly beer guy hang over the rig or pants etc...?

Someone on this site once said that nobody notices an extra lump on a fat guy... There is a lot of truth in this...

and also the point of the pants pushing the the gun into your side and the "roll" covering it up somewhat, has much truth as well
