I've got my 20 year old Marlin Model 60 here, and at the last couple of range trips, I've had several failure to feeds. When this happens, the rounds don't even want to go into the chamber; the action behind that seems fine, but it seems as if there's some blockage.
After 4000 rounds, I'm not terribly surprised at having some buildup of brass, lead, whatever, but what is the best way to get rid of this? I'm in the process of working on it with Gunzilla, Hoppes #9, Remington 40-X bore cleaner, and a copper brush. I'm hoping that somewhere in this combination is a fix, but man, this stuff is tough!

OK, I think I've fixed the issue. After a lot of brushing, the rounds are feeding. At least, when it's not warm... I'll have to get out tomorrow and fire it, as I may be going by the range anyway between service calls.
