as far as I know they are the same between the 9 and 40, you may want to ask rich at canyon creek, but I think this topic was discussed before and they are the same extractor.
NExd said:Okay, let me get this straight. You are bitching that they sent you a XD9 extractor, yet you dont know if they are the same or different, yet you are pissed off at them????
Also let me get this straight, you are doing your own gunsmithing on the gun, and then you are pissed off that it isnt functioning right, and thus it is SA's fault that they sent you an extractor that you dont know is the same or not?
Just checking the logic of this problem and how it is SA's fault
I don't think he was offended, I just set him off with my bad choice of words in the original post.one-eyed-fatman said:You can offend NEXD? I didn't know!![]()

I agree. I have tuned the extractor, now it operates perfectly. I am not blaming SA for that. In fact, I know now that the extractors are the same. My complaint is that I still haven't received the recoil spring!!! I expect it to be here this week. Now we are at 14+ emails.mullanman said:The extractor is the same for the 9mm and .40. Breechface is also the same.
Extractors require some tuning to get it right. Rarely can you just 'drop in' a part and have it function 100%.
You need a little more tension on it. Have a smith install it if you don't know what you are doing.
I can't say you can blame SA as they sent you what you asked for. They didn't install it.
This is not something you should have to get from any internet forum, including this one. The manufacturer should be able and willing to tell you the correct part number and application for the part you are trying to order- and the part they are shipping you.I don't know if the extractors are the same or not, but that is why I asked this knowledgeable forum
I told the manufacturer exactly the part I needed. They sent me a part that was labeled for a XD 9. After an email to them, they verified this was the correct part as did this forum. Regardless of what you say, this forum IS a great place to verify info like that. This forum was right in line with SA said. Forums are a good double check. I would not custom build a gun based upon an internet forum, but I'd sure seek their input. With the run around I got from this chick (not blaming SA, just her), you have to double check things like this because my contact with the manufacturer left a little to be desired with in this situation.invssgt said:This is not something you should have to get from any internet forum, including this one. Oh... So, I'm an ass. It seems we're on the same page. Please pardon my defensiveness. I think the quotation in your signature would apply to me here.invssgt said:Let me try this again...

It's not a bad idea to ask, here at least. Just keep in mind that the internet is loaded with sick bastards who would purposely feed you faulty information, and then laugh their asses off when you suffered because you listened to them.
The manufacturer of ANY product should always be the best source of info for correct, OEM parts.
