Not XD, but was practicing drawing with my new Springfield milspec 1911 and apparently flicked the safety off a bit too hard. the damn thing literally snapped off the pin! It was cheap pot metal.

Not really bothered since I shoot left handed and had to replace it with an ambi anyways, but I was pretty much shocked when it went snap. lol

gotta love Nevada. I got called at 3:30 am to go down to the office to check on one of the Cisco routers. Talk about a fun drive. Even snow plows were getting stuck.
Drove around all day in it. My Rodeo like the snow.

ccna?
It's an mim part.call springfield,they'll send ya a new one-or buy a wilson,brown,etc.. and be done.
There's a reason those Milspecs are so inexpensive.

Congratulations, you just discovered it. Metal Injection Molding.

Replace it with a barstock part and that won't happen again.
already placed an order for new hammer, trigger, mainspring housing, ambi safety and grip safety so it was no biggie.

Not a CCNA, working as a systems admin for a local ISP now though and one of the Ciscos in the office that handles our wireless network refused to come back online after the power went out. (UPS finally ran out of juice) so I got called by the boss at 3am, had to bundle up, dig out the car and fight my way to the office just to cycle the power.
I had one awhile back and the damn slide stop broke, emailed Springfield, got a new one and traded the gun.

FWIW: Only one company (SV) currently makes a barstock thumb safety. The rest are either investment cast or MIM.
