I went shooting with my girlfriend on Saturday. Being winter in Iowa we have about 7 inches of snow on the ground right now. Shooting was great. She had no problem handling my 40 cal. She was a little intimidated Im sure but she still did very well for her first time out. Anyway, she was very concerned about dropping my XD in the snow. Well, wouldnt ya know I end up dropping it in the snow, WITH THE SLIDE OPEN! It gets snow all over it and inside it. I quickly wipe it off with my sweatshirt and we shoot about 70 more rounds after my mishap. I probably dont even need to say this but the XD operated flawlessly as usual. I didnt clean until two days later when I got back home- NO RUST AT ALL!! Its a Stainless 40 cal service model.

Just thought I'd share my story guys!

With proper care....most oils will resist such mishaps.
I dropped mine in the snow too...in the holster tho.
The Armadillo on the slide beaded it right up like I hoped.
I wiped it off....and no rust ever anywhere yet.
Knock on wood

My XD is not permitted to play in the snow. But it permitted to shoot that stuff.
How do you differentiate which snow flake to aim at? :p
