Here is some info from the manufacturer. We planned to use it on a 5 acre lot and were told it would work just fine. The way to add another collar is to get one (not sure of the cost since you would not need another transmitter) and the hand unit can switch between the two collars to send the signal too. The collar that I am including makes it easy to adjust to any dog and is very secure. The reason I chose this unit was the ability to give a vibration based correction that does not shock the dog, but gets their attention.
