yeah that is my thought. honestly I would rather a ghost ring.

I had similar concerns but if I understand the directions correctly it doesn't mount TO the dust cover but rather before the dust cover on the actual frame.

For a Top Cover replacement, I would recommend the Dog Leg Gen 2

It's much more secure as the top cover is secured through the rear sight (you remove the sight) and uses a special recoil spring assembly to further lock that top cover in place.

I had one but decided I liked the stock rear sight better (not much a fan of ghost ring sights) so I sold it. I'd probably get one again eventually.
