What a difference! I have fully disassembled my XD40 a couple of times and had a heck of time with the mag release and the grip safety. I sat down with my SA Mil Spec the other night to do a full disassembly using the guide in the sticky. Much, much easier. Everything went back together so smooth. The simplicity of the design is so much nicer than messing with a bunch of tiny springs that need to fit in tight places. I think I appreciate the 1911 more each time I work with it.

Yep...and realize that the only "tool" you need to fully strip a GI-spec 1911 is a cartridge (for the grip srews).

Probably the easiest pistol to Completely disassemble. There are others that are easier to field strip, but dis assembly, none I have found. including glock.

I was truly surprised how easy my first 1911 frame strip was.
I've yet to disassemble a 1911 slide.

The slide is much easier than the hammer/sear/disconnect assembly.
