I am getting my xdm in the next couple of weeks, and I am wondering if there is a way to decock a fully loaded and chambered xdm without unloading it?

Why would you wish to decock it with one in the chamber? If you did somehow have one in the chamber and not cocked, the only thing you could do would be to rack the slide and this would eject the current round.

OP

^^^This wouldn't decock an XDM. It would only eject one live round and load another.^^^

There is NO DECOCKER or manual safety on the XDM. I'm not sure why you would want one.

However; The XDM does have several built in passive safety features. IMHO; these "passive" safties makes the XDM one of the BEST firearms for a newbie to own. Not only do the passive safties make it a safer choice than other handguns on the market, the passive safeties make it a good choice for a SDHG.

Basically, it works like this:
"Keep your booger hook OFF the BANG switch until you are ready to shoot!"

When ready to shoot be aware of your target and what's beyond. Then once you get the proper grip and have the proper site picture of your "intended" target, all you have to do is squeeze the trigger.

The simple operation of the XDM makes it a good choice for SD because under the stress of a BG encounter, the simpler your PDW is to operate the better your chances of survival.

REMEMBER!
The absolute BEST safety feature of ANY firearm is the the one between your ears. (Get some "professional" training! Then, use your BRAIN as your PRIMARY safety switch and you'll be fine.)

There is no decock. You have to release the magazine, rack the slide to empty the chamber, check the chamber, put your finger inside and make sure it's empty, point to a safe direction and dry fire. The cocked indicator on the back will move forward (not sticking out the back). Put the magazine back and now you have a "decocked" XDM. Once you rack the slide and chamber a round again, the XDM will be "cocked" and ready.

Just to beat a dead horse...

No you cannot de-cock the XDm with a round in the chamber.

Even IF you did have a de-cocked striker with a round in the chamber the ONLY way to re-cock the striker would be to rack the slide, which would eject the old live round and put a new one in from the magazine.
The above is exactly what coach482 said. Tcox misread the post.

Why are you asking this question? If you want to decock on a life round look into getting a different gun SIG and Beretta come to mind.

You can cock the gun without fully racking the slide. Only rack it about 1/2 in. and it will be cocked, this is how I do it with a dummy round. Can't decock it with a live round.

Hold it against your belly button pointing straight down and pull the trigger.

Problem solved.
