I want a lightweight upper thats stable and the ability to hook a magpul AFG on it. Thinking 16" barrel, with the AFG able to be put as far forward as to be entirely in front of the gas block/FS.

Ideas on how to do such a thing? I mean ideally I'd want a monolithic upper/free float but do any have the rails out that far/are they abnormally heavy or are they usually lighter. I really don't know these things.

FYI yes this is going to be 556 with a 1:7 twist, and if possible I"d like to be able to put a 22 conversion kit in it when I want. (if you have a 1:7 twist and a 22lr bolt works in your feel free to sound off here)

I have and use a .22lr kit in my 1:7 AR ... it works fine. Just don't expect to get any long range accuracy and you are golden.

My kit has paid for itself 2x over with the amount of .22LR I have put thru it. It's dirty as hell but you were gonna clean it anyway. :D
