Before this sight was hacked I had posted numerous Fail to Feed problems with my XD 40. It especially didn't like JHP's. Wouldn't even chamber the dreaded 180gr WWB JHP's.

I sent it back to SA. They polished the feed ramp and did some work on the slide and breech face. The next time at the range it failed twice out of 200 rds. Failed once on a UMC JHP and once on a CCI Blazer FMJ. I may have limp wristed, I don't know.

I then replaced the springs in my mags with Wolf 10+ and installed a Dons guide rod writh 22lb spring. It has worked flawlessly ever since then with several hundred rounds. It now loves WWB 180gr JHP's, WWB 165gr FMJ's CCI JMJ's and UMC JHP's. I am now very confident and will trust my life to my XD 40.

I don't recall hearing the DGR and spring helping FTF's, but hey, cool!

My confidence is back too. Kept having FTE problems in my XD-9. It had extractor replaced at the factory this past summer for the problem, worked for a while (less then 1000 rounds) and quit on me again. I was going to sell it but my local smith at my store convinced me to let him work on it. Got it back just before the new year. Have 900 rounds through it so far with no malfunctions. The repair, increased positive camber on the extractor hook and tune the tension on the extractor. Best part was that I was not charged for the repair as I bought the XD at that shop and they like to back what they sell. I just wonder why Springfield could not do this the first time around.. Having a 60% FTE rate is not fun.

After the SA worked on my gun, I think changing out the mag springs was the primary reason my gun stopped having FTF problems. Dons guide rod to me reduces the recoil and muzzle flip which may keep me from limp wristing, if that makes sense. Nonetheless, it is a great feeling to know I can use "knock on wood" any kind of ammo from JHP's to FMJ's without hesitation. When the XD is firing on all cylinders it is awsome.
