I am looking for input as to which would be more effective at reducing muzzel flip ,I have a 40 cal 5.25 coming and am wondering if porting the barrel to match the factory slide cut would be as effective as using a comp on the 4.5 barrel I currently have a 4.5 in 40 cal , with a stock barrel no comp , this would be for shooting open class ipsc matches I have no experiance with either type so thats why I am looking for info from folks who may know

TIA

The 4.5 would make a better open gun.

If I remember right someone said that the 5.25 slide is almost the same weight as a standard one. With that said a comp would add weight and could have a better port design so I say comp. Put a comp on the 5.25. P.S. I am not even going to get into ports tending to be smaller and closer to the hand (less effective) and in a fight (not the competition style shooting that you are doing) you can really hurt yourself on the gases so farther away from your body the better.
