How would chrome work on a slide? I know chrome can become discolored with high heat but I'm not sure at what temperature. I thought it would be kinda cool and unique to have a chrome plated slide on my XD. Any thoughts?

Standard chrome, huh, no.

Hard chrome, one of the best finishes available..

I had my G35 slide hard chromed a while back and it looked awsome. The hard chrome finish seemed to be more durable than the standard Glock finish. Several years of holstering, unholstering and several thousand rounds down range and it had no wear on it, still looked as good as the day it was plated.

I would not use the shiney chrome on a gun. I would think that during the day the sun light would reflect off of the gun.

ditto- unless you have a really nice 1911 or something that you want to be your "fancy/collectors" gun.

wouldn't want my everyday gun to have the shiny chrome...
