Can anyone recommend an FFL in the Chicago area? Preferably outside of Cook County so I don't have to pay their $25 transfer ransom. Western or SW suburbs would be perfect.

I hardly think a $25 transfer fee qualifies as ransom. A dealer has a right to earn a living.

That's not the FFL fee. That is a transfer fee that Cook County has imposed on all firearm transfers. It's another one of their efforts to punish people to have the audacity to want the buy a gun in Cook County. They also wanted to add a 5 cent per bullet tax, as well. That one didn't make it.
