I've seen several advertisements for barrels and magazines that allow you to shoot 9mm out of a XDM that was originally designed for .40S&W. I believe this is because 9mm ammo is generally cheaper than .40S&W, so you can practise more for the same investment in ammo.
My question is can you go the other way? Can you replace the barrel and magazine in a 9mm XDM with a .40S&W barrel and magazine? If it makes any difference, I have the 3.8 inch XDM compact.
