So I took my new AR to the range today to put a few rounds through her, and after about 20 or 30 rounds it failed to fire. Not because of brass though, the trigger simply would not depress. I attempted to put it on safe in order to inspect it, and the safety wouldn't budge. I removed cleared it, removed the magazine, and broke it down to look at it and noticed nothing strange. The bolt seemed and functioned fine, the chamber looked okay, and lower receiver looked fine. I didn't notice anything out of the ordinary. Am I missing something or am I going nuts?

Safety won't engage unless the rifle is cocked.

So when you open it up was the hammer cocked back? If so did you pull the trigger to release it so that you can look down to where the safety is?

What type of trigger single, 2 stage? Was this a factory built or home brew?

Check to make sure the hammer/trigger is centered on the pins, and make sure the pins are correctly seated

If either "walk" (move out of center) the gun will NOT fire.

Check for debris lodged under the trigger/sear, hammer, disconnect and safety.

The best thing you can do would be to remove the fire control group from the lower. You can verify the springs are in the proper places as you do so.
