Sup guys. I just bought a Tikka T3 Lite in .270cal and though id share with you all. I have a Nikon Buckmaster 3-9x40 scope w/bdc mounted on it. Its the first bolt rifle ive owned and probly not the last. I have yet to shoot it(had to wait for the loctite to dry) but its been bore sighted. Gonna be goin to the range next week to zero it out. I cant wait!
Ive never sighted a scoped gun before, any tips? I figured id start at 20yds, then 50yds, then 100yds. Right?

Anyone else got this rifle? How you like it?

Heres some crappy pics. Ill take more when I goto the range.

Nice looking rifle. As for tips... hmmm... I'd skip the 20 yard and go right for 50 or even 100yards. If it's boresighted correctly it'll be darn close and you should be able to zero it within a few or four rounds. Keep us informed to your progress. Let me know how you like the Nikon also.

nice quality rifle in a great cal.

the 270 is a flat shooting round.the biggest deer I ever shot(12 pt) was with a 270 at 285 yards (measured).I have it sighted in at 2 inches high at 100 meters.

Good looking rifle, have never heard anything but good about Tikkas. And I love 270 myself.

As far as sighting goes, same as trik396 said, just go straight to 100 yards. If you sight it about 1.5 to 2 inches high (depending on bullet weight and barrel lenghth etc.) at 100 you should be able to hold right on target out to 300 yards or so. And 300 yards is a long damn way. If you plan on making shots past that, make sure you get some practice to get used to how much to compensate for drop (those BDC reticles arent always perfect)

I second what AH1 stated, 2" high at 100 meters. If you decide to reload for it the 2 best powders I've used in the .270 are H4831 and IMR 4350.

Very nice rifle...... I also have a tikka lite in ss and chambered in .308 with a Leupold v-II.

When you sight the gun in remember to take your time. It's not a race. I also recommend cleaning the bore after each shot while sighting in. May not be required but it's just something I have always done.

Good luck with your new addition.

I didn't appear that no one warned you about getting "scopped", if you relax too much, the scope comes back and smacks you on the eye brow!! Yep, I did it with the second shot of my 7mm... yikes!
+1. That scope is setting back far enough that a good "idiot cut" is possible with a .270's recoil. Not that the .270 is bad in terms of perceived recoil, but it might creep up on you if you aren't careful. I'd want at least a good 3" of eye relief with that rifle/scope.

The .270 is a great cartridge and the Tikka is an excellent rifle capable of very good accuracy at extended ranges.

Enjoy your new rifle!!

Ok went to the range the other day. Didnt have my camera so no pics, sorry. It shot flawless. Hell it shoots better than im capable of at the moment. My tightest group was 4 shots in 1" at 100yds. Overall I sent 23 rounds down range. My next purchase will be a limbsaver cause after the 6th shot it started to put a hurtin on me. lol. Im still a little tender, no bruise though. Overall very happy

Congrats.
I think Tikka is one of the better kept secrets out there in terms of quality and cost.
I have a T3 Lite 7mm magnum. Deadly accurate. With Nosler ballistic tips I've put 3 rds into <0.5 inch on several occasions at 100 yds.
I sing the praises of mine constantly. My hunting buddies all roll their eyes since it's not a Browning, etc.

My uncle has that same rifle in that caliber. Great shooter and very accurate.

Great caliber choice. My M-700 BDL Remington is in 270 Winny and its my #1 deer caliber and probably will be forever. Accurate, not punishing and kills deer like lightning. I have hunted deer with a 270 for almost 15 years and have no plans to change.

Enjoy it...you chose well!
