I am going to have a set of custom knobs made for one of my 6.5 Grendel ARs, so I am working-up all the ballistic information for the gun and its favorite load. I want to get things dialed-in as much as possible because the knobs are pretty expensive and I want to get it right the first time.

My question is this... What is the actual measurment from the bore centerline to the top of the rail on a typical flat-top upper? I know the rail to bore centerline height of my scope mount, but I need to know the total bore centerline to scope centerline distance.

I can't seem to find a blueprint of the upper anywhere, and the Solidworks model pictured above doesn't have any dimensions (at least that I can get to with the free viewer).

With the bolt held back by the bolt latch, you could measure the vertical distance from firing pin hole (on the bolt face) to the top of the top rail on the upper receiver.
