Is it just me or do the newer Uncle Mikes kydex holsters look a hell of a lot like the Blade Tech holsters? I've never been around the Blade Techs, just seen pics. I have one of the newer Uncle Mikes (a vast improvement over the older design BTW) and like it quite a bit. I was just wondering what the major differences (besides price) were between the two holsters. I figure Old School will chime in, but anyone else know?

everything from comp tac is hand molded and hand fitted(except the shape of the gun, which is heat pressed) with the acctual gun it is built for.

i personaly havent used anything as good as comp tac. and for all of you "the answer" guys, i know for sure that comp tac makes the clips for them and i think they make the actual holster for them.... anyhow it was designed by greg from comp tac.

Isn't the Uncle Mikes kydex holsters injection molded? The "normal" (products not labled as injection molded) ones from Blade-Tech are quite thick compared to injection molded stuff. They're not flimsy by any means.

One thing you probably won't ever get from Uncle Mikes is Tek-Lok and my friend, on a cold and wet day when you don't want to take off more than you have to, being able to pull off the clip and take off your holster is so much nicer.

Blade-Tech is worth the money in my opinion.

Most. if not all, Kydex holsters are hand molded. The UM holsters are injection molded. In the end, with Blade-Tech, you are paying for quality on all fronts. Quality of fit, materials, function, lifespan, etc. Sure, and Uncle Mike's will work, but if you want something that will last for years and that will never let you down, Blade-Tech is the way to go.

It's like comparing cars, if that helps.

Like I said, I haven't been around the Blade tech. I just noticed in the pictures that they "look" (shape, size, etc.) very similar. I'm not in any way saying the Uncle Mike's is the greatest holster made (get real, they're only 15 bucks) I was just curious after seeing the similarities in the looks. Like I said before though, the "newer" Uncle Mike's kydex holsters are a huge improvement over the previous ones. I wouldn't have given you 10c let alone $15 for one of the older style ones. Thanks for the input.

I have one of the UM holsters. I was not expecting much for 15 bucks, but it was the only XD holster I could find off the shelf at the time.

I don'tl ike the way the pistol is held off your body. There is a huge gap between you and the pistol. Lots of room for branches and brush to snag, if you walk through the woods or ride an ATV through the brush (as I did).

Sorry, but as soon as funds will allow, I am ordering an El Paso Saddlery #77 Tortilla for the XD, like I have for my 1911s, Hi-Power and Sig 220. Theres nothing like good leather for guntoting comfort!

Once you get a UM in one hand and a Blade-Tech in the other, you can see and feel the major difference. Each of the Blade-Tech holsters are hand made for the specific gun you have. Blade-Tech has Injection Molded ones for 15 bucks, but when I was at their shop its more worth it getting the custom one.
