Been saving up for a long'er' distance rifle than my carbine. I think I may be decided on a 6.8SPC upper for current setup. Anyone here personally shoot this load want to chime in? I shot a 7mm earlier last week and loved it. Is this load comparable? Im looking for a load that will reach out and touch someone...

Educate me.

Well, longer distance for what?

I thought the 6.8 was designed for shorter range combat... and not varmint hunting. :)

From http://www.demigod.org/~zak/firearms/6.8SPC/faq.php :

What is the point of 6.8SPC?
The point of 6.8SPC is: significantly better terminal ballistics against humans and animals to 300 yards and still fit and run reliably in the AR15/M16/M4 platform.
When factory loads are finalized, an 18" barrel should shoot the 115gr OTM at about 2750fps; the 16" barrel at about 2650fps; and a 12" barrel at just over 2500fps.
The BC of the 115gr Hornady is 0.340.[2] The BC of the 110gr VMAX is 0.362.[1]

How does 6.8SPC's trajectory compare to caliber X?
Since the ballistic coefficient (BC) and muzzle velocity (MV) of 6.8SPC is very similar to 75-77gr 5.56mm and 150gr .308, the trajectories will be almost identical. For other comparisons, plug the MV and BC into the ballistic computer of your choice. [2]
One of my buddies just bought a 6.8 upper, but can't find the ammo anywhere yet. He gave me a dummy round he made though, since he doesn't have any of the "special" powder he claims is needed.

I read that also, thats why I am asking around..

So the way you put it, the .308cal/7.62mm compared to the 6.8SPC performs the same? or...?

Keep saving for the .50 upper.
