I'm not yet an owner of an XD but I asked a store to notify me when they get a .40 Bi-Tone Service model in. I decided on the XD-40 because of the ability to change the barrel to 9mm and shoot those rounds. The problem is that I haven't been able to find a source for the replacement barrels other than one from Bar-Sto for $200.00. Is that the price I have to pay to do this or is their a less expensive model available? At that price the savings relative to just buying another gun isn't very significant considering the benefit of having a second weapon.

Where do people get the replacement barrels they use?

Thanks all, this is a great site and I've learned a lot. Thank you.

I just noticed (Duh!) the reference to EFKFiredragon above and will look there too.

I recently purchased a firedragon .40 cal barrel and the #22 rod and spring combo. Has anyone else used this conversion, and what are the results. Is it a noticeably less recoil. Also, I heard the dragonfire barrels are a little more accurate than the stock barrels. I still have a few days till they get here and would like to know as much as possible about them.

I have had a terriable time getting my XD .40 cal to convert to a 9mm
I bought a Bo Mar competition grade conversion barrel and it fit like a glove.
But the mags would not feed right.
So I bought 6 new mags.
The I started having extractor problems, about one out of ten would be left in the barrel.
I called Springfield and they said the extractor was the same for the 9mm and the.40.
Please help???

I assume you have already sent this back to be fixed however for future reference. The chamber may not even have to be reamed. It could just have a burr or is a bit rough, You can take some fine sandpaper put it on a dowel rod and clean that up a little yourself, sometimes just shinning up your chamber will fix the problem.

Just dont think about removing material when you do it think more buffing. In most cases very little material needs to be removed to fix the problem.

I had a similar problem in one of my 1911's that I built, a couple minutes with some 800a sandpaper and it was working like a charm.

Have anyone know when will be available on market?
I have XD40 sub, wanted to buy a conversion 9mm. However, half year ago, contacted barsto, they replied will be available on this summer. Summer gone! Still none available.
Contacted EFK, no one replied.
