I'm still looking to get a DPMS Panther LR-243 and think that I might like to add a 260 or 308 barrel or maybe both. Now, I emailed DPMS about what is needed for the change and he said all you need is a new barrel and a bolt, but I don't understand why you'd need another bolt as the cartridge, from the sholder back, is the same whether a 243, 260 or 308 -- right?

But, beyound that, what else would be nice to make a caliber change quick? I'm thinking that having a complete seperate upper would make changing calibers as simple as pushing out two pins and swapping one upper with barrel for another. Anyone doing this?

Could it be that .243s don't headspace the same as the other two? Could be that the guy was giving you bad info. I'd check another souce. (I'd probably call the guy at DPMS and ask him "why?"
