Wow...just got my permit in the mail today from the Sherriff's office. So now it becomes real...carrying a real weapon that can cause real damage and real death. That's a heavy responsibility...God, help me be wise.

My XD will be heading off to ajames, hopefully this week...as soon as I get a couple questions answered (hint hint ;) ). Ajames, check your PM and give me a ring.

Wow...

Congrats. Based on your post above I am sure you will do fine. Yup, no other govt. allows it's constituent population to act as judge, jury and executioner under a prescribed set of cricumstances. Just remember, your sentance does not come with an appeal option and you will do fine.

Who says you can't meet good friends on the net? Thanks all.

I've got a Galco matrix slide holster, and a Comp-tac CTAC is on the way from Gunnersalley ($ca-ching!$). As long as I can drop a few pounds off my considerable back-side, I might actually fit the holster in existing pants.

Suppose I should get a good safe to keep in the car. Lots of places around here (like school) that I can't bring it into.

Congrats sjp! I am hoping to go through with getting mine ASAP, can't wait...

From the sounds of it, this one was made to stay...they made sure that all the liberal activists didn't have anything to whine about this time, legally speaking that is, they'll still whine..a lot..but this time they shouldn't be able to find a loophole

but they have no grounds for turning this one over. like I said, people will still whine...

I don't see why anyone would carry in a church anyways, I know I would never do it...in fact I'm going to make a post with a poll.

i suppose u never heard of mad men walking into church and shooting up the place?

i suppose with common thinking like the above, i doubt a criminal would want to take advantage of a no gun area?

i suppose with the islamic terror going on all over the world, im sure the terrorist wouldnt like to hit a christian church..

do u leave the gun in ur car? or leave it at home?
what about the car ride to and fro?

i work in the nursery sometimes with my wife.. it kind of scary how easy it would be to walk into a church display a gun and walk off with a bunch of expensive babies

The PA law states i as a ccw permit holder i can carry anywhere but into court "rooms" and schools.. im legal and its my bussiness. any church that would make a descion to post NO GUN signs. is foolish for the reasons stated above.

signs and gun laws only affect law abiding citizens, so what does a no gun sign do, do u think a mad man set on killing will see the sign and walk away?

When I was visiting my parents during the state fair my dad was telling me that the churches were putting up a big stink abou this and trying to fight the ccl.

I don't know why, I mean at our church camp we shoot skeet and stuff. Many churches are not against guns just criminals murdering people.

In fact we were at a village inn rest. in MN and my dad and I were talking about the conceal carry law and a couple priests started talking about it too. They couldn't give any good argument against the law.

I just wish my state would wake up and be like MN.

From what I can tell the churches that are against (publicly) having guns inside are of the "liberal" variety--those that are ordaining practicing homosexuals, etc.

September 1999, Wedgewood Baptist Church, Fort Worth, TX. Some dude walks in during a service and opens up on the congregation killing 8 including himself.

I'm in seminary, and within 3 years will likely be pastoring a church somewhere in the US. I WANT somebody with a concealed weapon in my church. If there's nobody that can or will, it just might be me. Heck...might be me anyway. Still struggling with that...

I think you guys have changed my mind about carring in church...I guess if god didn't like handguns, he wouldn't have sent us John Browning.
I guess the only place I won't carry will be my parent's house now. My mother is against handguns completly, but I'm working on her, she's starting to see the truth about guns. BUT she's my mother and I'll respect her opinion no matter how much i disagree.

We have a local pastor who carrys
But it is illagal in MI to carry in any church
How can the state legislate such a thing? Churches (by and large) own their own property (ergo private property), and beyond that there's the whole seperation of church & state thing...

If there is such a statute I'd bet it could be overturned in a heartbeat.

"No chuches, synagogue, mosque, temple or other place of worship"

Also excluded hospitals ,court rooms ,college or university ,"school's , day care or casino excluding parking areas"

also no sports arena stadium or entertainment facility seating over 2500 people.Note this is where 100% of the local gun shows take place

The funny thing is I just renewed my last year and the back still has no bar lounge or dinning facility licensed to sell liquor.
They changed that about to years ago to Establishment where over 50% of there income is from liquor sales

Wow...usually the seperation of church & state is taken WAY beyond the simple "congress shall make no law" phrase. Sounds like your legislators REALLY missed something.

There's no way that would hold up in court. If a state court didn't overturn it a federal one would. All it would take is someone to challenge it.

 Dang it, now I'm going to be checking people in chuch for clips along their belt lines and stuff, although in CA I'd probably be more likely to find a snowball in hell.
