AR Triggers

I am trying to finish up my current AR build and I am looking at triggers. I was going to install a straight forward mil-spec trigger but after reading several articles on the different triggers out there, I started doing some research on the following tiggers:

I have read all of the pros and cons with each set up, for example; They say Timney Triggers are great and just drop right into the lower receiver but are extremel finicky when getting them adjusted just right. The others tend to be a little harder to install compared to the Timney but are not as cantankerous to adjust. I have heard nothing bad about the gold trigger by American Trigger Corp; does anybody have any good honest experience with any of these triggers (no brand loyalists please). I am trying to make narrow my decision down and right now I am going back and forth between Geissele and the Gold Trigger....

Thoughts? Suggestions?

I have the Geissele SSA-E and absolutely love it. Smooth, distinct stage change and light pull. Quick reset and easy to fire rapidly and accurately. Best "feel" I've experienced and I've tried a few in my time. Nothing bad to say about the others but this one is my favorite so far.

How easy is it to install, are there any adjustments that need to be made when installing it?

Have you looked into the lmt 2 stage trigger. I have to say it's the nicest trigger I have ever had the pleasure of using

I have the rock river arms 2 stage on my rifle. I have compared it side by side with the stock trigger on a bushmaster and I can say it is MUCH smoother and just all around feels better.

I just put the JP Original Fire Control Kit on my AR and and really like it. And it was only $100.

I have a Timney single stage 3.5lb skeletonized trigger, a Rock River Arms 2 stage, and an armalite 2 stage. Avoid the Armalite, it's ok for a 2 stage, but not as nice or reliable as the RRA. My Timney is the nicest trigger, and it is definitely a very clean break. I have not had any issues with it either, it's run flawlessly. I can't tell you how great it is in comparison to the others on your list though, I don't have any experience with them.

I also have an rra 2 stage trigger and the lmt is superior. The rra is simply bang for the buck. It's great compared to a single stage trigger but doesn't even compare to my lmt. Honestly though I really don't care for rra though as I've stated many times here before. To me they simply don't compare to my lmt, bcm and spikes products.

I cannot speak for the choices the op is lpoking at though I have not used them

Awesomely easy. Even comes with slave pins making the install a breeze.

Geissele is the best and they have never let me down.

I have run a Jard 3.5 lb in my last several builds, love it for the price.
Easy drop in, crisp, works for me

THe others might be better, as I have not run them. I should try a Geissele probably, but the Jards work great and so Im not too motivated

I had RRA 2 stage at first, but for whatever reason that second stage was a brick wall and too heavy for my liking. Swapped out for an SSA (before they started making the enhanced model) and haven't looked back. Thats what's in both my AR's now.

Can you interdependently adjust both stages on the Geissele SSA Enhanced? I have done tons of research on AR's, barrels...etc. Funny thing is that I have not done any research on triggers so I am sort of new to them. I like the idea of a 2 stage trigger and I understand how they work. I also like the idea of being able to adjust the first stage where it is not so loose that should I accidentally drop the rifle it will discharge. I want to be able to fine tune the first stage where it is not too loose but not to tight, sort of my own personal happy medium if that makes any sense. Of course, being able to fine tune the second stage would be nice but not necessary. I suppose what I just mentioned is basically what I am looking for; a cross between a combat trigger and competition trigger.

Sorry to get back to you late. It is pretty straightforward and easy to install. Lots of evidence on line about Geissele's superior performance and durability compared to RRA and others.

RRA has been known to have light primer strikes at times and premature wear from the research I've done. Geissele uses full strength springs and acheives light pulls with geometry in their designs. The SSA-E is factory tuned and needs no adjustments.

The only one i have used is the jewell trigger, fully adjustable to any pull weight, quite expensive but worth it!

No, it is factory tuned and not adjustable. Of course, changing springs or bending them is the "shade tree mechanic's" way of adjusting but I don't recommend it since Geissele achieves his magic by manipulating the geometry of the hard parts, not the springs. A big advantage is he uses full strength springs so light strikes don't occur as can sometimes happen with RRAs and others that use spring weight to adjust pull.

IF you want a slightly heavier pull, use the SSA. The "E" version is about 3.5 lbs total with the second stage about 1.2, near perfect IMO.

Yeah, I was afraid the pull might be too light and I'd find the trigger "twitchy" but that was not the case. Smooth, steady first stage and pronounced "stop" at second stage which is still controllable without worrying about a gnat landing on your finger and making it go.

I don't think it is too light for an all around trigger but have seen articles about gross motor responses under stress which is why GI triggers are so heavy. For actual combat with a full auto (select fire) M4, the SSF would probably be my choice but the E is sooooo sweet for the range and all around use on a semi auto.
