Just curious if anyone is and if so how is concealabilty? Also how do you carry it(IWB or OWB) and what type of holster. I'm thinking of using this as my CCW when I get my CHL. Thanks in advance

I trust carrying my 9mm for CCW. It's a dependable round with enough stoppin power to do the job. You can practice with many different loads and not dent your bank account. .40 can get expensive sometiems.
I carry OWB without any concealment problems.....just wear a loose shirt over.
Leather is the way to go....it is more forgiving on the finish in my opinion.
I carry an XD9 service everyday. As far as concealment goes, I guess it would depend on your frame. I carry in a Galco high ride fletch holster with a thumb break. I have no real problems concealing. I am 6' and around 200 lbs.

If its all you have carry it (lawfully of course). It should do fine. Although you could use the concealment issue as an excuse to get your self another gun
I just got my CPL yesterday, and carried for the first time last night. I concealed my XD40 service in a Comp-Tac CTAC holster (IWB) with an untucked button-down collared shirt over it. I was afraid I was going to have a bit of a 'shark fin' sticking out from the butt of the gun... so I picked up my buddy on the way to the store. He never noticed that I was carrying, so it probably was more of me being paranoid than actual 'printing'. Anyway, it carried well and I plan on carrying it as my primary ccw.

Right now my choices of carry are between the XD9 service and my new Ruger P345. The ruger is slightly thinner but a little bit longer.
I carry my XD40 Service concealed quite often with absolutely no problems. I usually carry IWB strong side with a Don Hume holster. I've also carried concealed with an OWB kydex holster, with a very loose shirt, or a coat or jacket. As has been mentioned, you own build will largely determine what you can do. But for the most part, I think most folks could make a service model XD dissappear with a little experimentation in clothing, gun position, and holster type.
I carry mine in a DeSantis Insider IWB. Conceals pretty easily with t-shirts.
I carry my XD-40 every day, I either use my smart carry inside the pants or OSW Fubus with a shirt over it or if going to be sweating alot, I 'll tuck the shirt in and throw a shop towel over the xd tucked behind the holster thats allows me quick access in case of need.
I carry a service XD40 IWB under an untucked Tshirt just fine.
XD-9 service...IWB...under a T-shirt works fine.
with an XD-9 Service and XD-40SC with T-shirt or Polo style shirt tucked using my regular size. Some times I use a size larger, either way no one have noticed I'm carrying.
XD-9 Service- I carry it IWB with shirts designed to be untucked (hawiian shirt cut.) I can carry it comfortably all day, though I plan to upgrade to a better holster a soon as funds are available. It conceals pretty well, and a whole lot better than the Berretta and Taurus I used to carry. 8) I also have a leather pancake holster I have not used yet (summer in Florida) but will use in the winter with a jacket. My wife's XD-SC seems to disappear when I carry it... Hmmm might have to get me one soon ;)

I carry a Palmone Treo 650 (LARGE smart cellphone) on the same side as my pistol in a holster of its own. This is creates the most printing :) I am convinced the cell phone entirely obsures any pistol printing on the same side (it worked fine when I carried the larger frame pistols.)

Even if it does print a little, people do not see it. You know your carrying a gun and are far more aware than the public at large. As above, a lot of people in general carry cell phones etc are their belt and people just don't notice little bulges on others.

i'm 5'9, 180lbs and carry an XD40 service all day everyday in a Comp Tac C-Tac.
I carry a 9mm service. I carry in an IWB left handed bladetech holster. I am 6'4 and 222 pounds so I can only carried when I wear an untucked t-shirt, when I tuck a collard shirt in I cant get to my gun and it shows really bad. If needed I also carry an extra magazine on my right side in an OWB blackhawk holster.

Soon I will carry my service OWB in a bladetech holster when I wear my carhart jacket in the winter. I will also carry a S&W revolver in my pocket or on my ankle as soon as I get it.

Bladetech holsters are gread but if you want one order it a long time before you need it. I think I waited 3-4 months for mine.
I carry my XD9 service and my XD40 Service depending on my mood for the day. they both are great handguns and will serve you well.
