A decent rifle, but other manufacturers have similar models, e.g. Remington, Ruger, Mossberg, etc.

I've got an old Savage 110 bolt action in 30-06 that is a real tack-driver at 100 yards. The heavy-barrel model shown in the link should be even better, if that's possible. Savage has always made accurate guns which some people compare favorably with much more expensive Weatherbys.

^^this^^...their AccuTrigger is fantastic for a factory adjustable...the .308 I had was like a giant version of the .17hmr....both have been flawless...many yotes raccoons and P-dogs have met their demise at the hands of both

I just bought cabelas version of that gun in a .308 for $600. Mine came with a Picatinny rail mounter already and a 24" heavy barrel. May want to look at that one as the rail is probably that much more any how and you get a longer barrel if that interests you. The version I got might be a cabelas exclusive. At least that is what the sticker on the stock said.

I don't own one of their "big calibers", but I love my Savage MK2 FVSR.
