Good and bad reports. Seems there are issues with inconsistant expansion.
If they can get that fixed it could end up a very nice round.

Biggest problem with hollowpoints is the cavity being filled up with cloth or something else before it hits the body and then it can't expand properly.

It's a good idea and better than FMJ. It's the issue ammo (.40 S&W) for Detroit PD they have had some issues with it in actual shooting incidents. I'd carry it if I couldn't carry JHPs. CorBon's PowRBall is another "non hollow point" that feeds, functions and expands with boring reliability.

I think Detroit PD has been lobbying to change to a different ammo from EFMJ. As has been mentioned it's reputation is less than sterling among those who have seen results of street use and those who have tested it in-lab.
