I just leafed through a Guns and Ammo: Handguns Magazine article about that extreme whatever ammo. What an idiotic article. The guy just basically repeats all of the company's sales spiel. He did all this gel testing (I'm sure the gel wasn't properly calibrated) and crap. He specifically says in the article that the fang face ammo is designed to penetrate 14 inches (of course they're going to say that as that's the standard for penetration in just about any legit law enforcement agency that does ammo testing as well as the FBI standard). The guy showed a picture of the gel block with a .357 fang face round in it with a ruler next to it. The furthest piece barely penetrated almost to eight inches and yet in his piece he's saying the ammo performed exactly as advertised. That level of obvious journalistic whoring is despicable.

He showed some gel blocks for other rounds that barely penetrated 6 inches.

No, I'm not surprised at this as it's a regular occurence in the gun rag...however it's just one of those instances where it's much more clearly a sellout article than some of the others. The author's name was Phil Johnston.

No, it was his own gel shots. That would be even more shameless to post the company's gel test shots!

just checking. i would like to see someone without a vested interest test this ammo.
It's been done and they are illegitimate for other reasons as well such as their exaggerated claims (and that's putting it nicely):

Link 1
At SHOT Show this year, we stopped by their [Extreme Shock] gaudy booth just for laughs. Everyone found some way to cover their show badges so as not to clue the sales rep in on what he was about to do. The sales guy went on to tell us which high speed units and specific agencies used their ammunintion---not realizing that he was talking to people from the same places he claimed used their ammo.
Here's a link to some actual test results done by Dr. Gary K. Roberts, a respected authority on terminal wounding and ballistics. Also read down to the story the guy tells about shooting through a car windshield.

Here's another link where the guy who runs Extreme Shock comes on and gives a bunch of blah blah blah. Some of it is very obvious BS and exaggerations.

Basically the things that they say this round can do are akin to magic. Also much like another snake oil round, the RBCD/LeMas "blended metal" rounds, they claim that for some magical reason their ammo cannot be tested with standardized ammo tests.

I wasn't going to specifically call bullshit on the Extreme Shock Ammo, on another thread, because I didn't have anything to back up my doubts, but seeing their ads doesn't help their credibility with me. Their target market is very obviously the same guys who come here and their first post is "Which is the best 9mm round?" Guys who just want an easy answer and are gullible enough to believe the first answer they get, especially if it is accompanied by wild claims, name dropping and bright colors.

I was gonna say that this might make a good hunting round but after reading about swirling Nitilium particles in the wound channel  I don't think I'd want to eat anything with Nitrillium particles in it.

They still might be fun for those rascially coyotes. "Anti-terrorist rounds" are probably great for killing Wiley's cousins.

That's why most gun rags are just gun porn and advertisements. I subscribe to Gun Tests and it's the only MAGAZINE I trust to be accurate. I've read many articles in which they review 3 or four handguns and give all four a strong "Don't Buy!" rating.

Yes Krackels, I blame Swirling Nitrillium Particles for my Acquired Tourette's Syndrome, accompanied by Persistent Spastic Testicular Twitching. It's no Picnic, but, then again I smoked my Nitrillium, so I can't say what the effects would be of an "Abrupt Thorax Injection" of Swirling Nitrillium Particles...

Gun tests report on the Rohrbaugh R9 was a complete joke that, in my mind, completely destroyed any credibility they might have had. Their amateurish assessment of it was just beyond ridiculous.

No, I'm not a Rohrbaugh owner and I probably never will be, that article just revealed their lack of gun and shooting knowledge in a big way.

Some more "wonder ammo" does not suprise me. Gun Test's is fun reading but I still make the call. I will not buy based on their review.

I will toss in my 2 cents. Ex Swat, Ex BEA. We WANT ammo that would penetrate barriers such as doors, walls, tables, etc. to counter against the bad guys barricading themselves in. Last thing we would want is to have someone who is able to stand behind a wooden doorway that has now become invulnerable to our rounds.

The same would go for dealing with intruders. If I have to defend myself, I do not want a round that will be nullified by a door, a wall or other object between me and my assailant.

This ammo would get the good guys killed.

the funny thing is i thought this ammo was decent all i saw was in a mag article and it was for the 32acp round and it penatrated ballistic gel all the way through in to a cinder block the gel was 18 inches long. the 32 is for close range and you cant miss so i wonder if they shot it at really close range

I was at the Reno NV gun show yesterday, and saw the EXTREEEEME booth. After watching the video with the boar, I asked how much the ammo was. They said it was 30.00 for a" twenty" round box. Lets see,

5 boxes for function reliability - 150.00 xd-40
5 boxes for function reliability - 150.00 sig- 229
2 boxes for clips and "carry" - 60.00 xd-40
3 boxes for clips and "carry" - 90.00 sig- 229

total- 450.00

TO BE ON THE STREET FIGHTING FOR YOUR LIFE,WITH UNPROVEN AMMO IN A "PRETTY" BOX. WHAT WOULD YOUR EX-WIFE SAY.......................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................PRICELESS !!!!!
