Just bought a new XD 4" bbl in 45acp per the strong recommendation of my employer. I'm not new to handguns, but this is my first plastic pistol. I think there must be something wrong with it, because I can't "top off" my mags. I found nothing of value in the owners manual. It just won't let me remove the mag with a round in the chamber! The mag release gets stuck. Surely this is not the way it is supposed to work?

Thanks in advance....

Welcome from Woodfrod county!

They are a little tight in the beginning. My XD40sc is a lot better after 1500 rounds.

Its more than a little tight! The mag release won't move.

I'm in Woodford County too!
Welcome from Arizona.
Give this a shot and see if it works. Push up on the magazine and at the same time press in the release. It works for mine.

Thanks everybody for the advice and the welcome! I can't wait to shoot my new XD more. Of all my guns, it is one of the more enjoyable pistols to shoot.

Mine was very tight at first. The more I used it the easier it got. After 200 rounds it's a lot better.
