The XD was on the cover of American Handgunner Annual 2005 and had the first article on page 6. A very solid review from an unbiased source. A pleasant read. Nice to see exposure like that.

I've read that too. Great article...but not worth $10!!
unbiased??? Have you ever watched the American Rifleman TV show. Springfield Armory is the major sponsor. I think that by definition makes the NRA and all its magazines biased.

This isn't to say it is isn't a good article, but to say it is from an unbiased source would be a fallacy.
I too about flipped when I seen the sticker price on it.
So I stood in the store and just read about the XD
I bought it 3 weeks ago and haven't read it yet.

American Handgunner has nothing to do with the NRA, you are thinking about the American Rifleman. Having said all of that, AH is like every other gun rag in that they take advertising dollars. Other than Gun Test I don't know of a magazine that you can trust the reviews and even GT has some pretty strange personal biase and many of their test are apples to oranges.

And not worth $10 either.
I think the book is worth every penny. 200 pages is almost like buying a couple of magazines but it doesnt fall apart like magazines do.
