It's sad that this critical exploit has been known about for almost a month and the board wasn't updated...I hope the data can be recovered.

Well, the folks who designed the PHPbb system don't exactly send out emails when they issue a critical update. It requires regularly checking their website to see what the latest is on their product. With Windows and some other software, updates are automatic and/or you are notified when they are available. With server level software on what I assume is probably a Linux/unix server, and free software at that, you don't get those nifty notifications. And though I know Kermee updated us a little while back, its not hard to let updates slip by you. As far as the exploit that somebody used against us, it was pretty well documented, so as others have suggested, probably a kiddie scripter with nothing better to do on a Tuesday night. And now Kermee gets to pick up the pieces for a few hours to bring us back online. Always remember, it coulda been worse, and we could be offline a lot longer, but Kermee got us back up pretty quick
