Got my XD today and I noticed that the top of my holster has a rail and 2 cross-cuts on it. I havent noticed this before.

I am assuming I could attach a light on my holster, when its not attached to the gun? I just never noticed that until I saw my holster.

I just got my XD 40 today and I have the new frame with the 2 cross-cuts in the rail. Will my XD accept the XL2 light/laser or do I still need to use a light/laser like the M6 etc?

That's what it's for. It will take a light, lazer, etc. that will fit the rail on the gun. Handy place to carry an accessory. I keep my XML light there sometimes, however I'm not real crazy about it getting banged around when I hit the holster aginst something. Most of the time my XML lives in a pouch I bought just for it. Don't remember where I got it. One of the holster sites.
