Yesterday I spent over an hour trying to move it over on my vise. Next was a 3# hammer/drift. Then today a shop (and I) used a Meprolight sight mover...that didn't work either.

Let me guess, send it in to Springfield? :x

On my gun I see little lines on the slide where it seems the sights should be lined up and on the rear sight it is slightly off. Is this a major no no or will I be fine? Its like maybe half a millimeter off or less.

Shoot man, my sight is 1mm left of the line.

Bigger hammer? The last thing I want to do is crack/bend the slide. I'm telling you, I've really wailed on this to the point of permanent finish damage. Not that I care how it looks, but don't need it to jam when I need it most. Even the guy at the store wouldn't crank past a certain point with the pusher.

One millimeter will move you like a foot off at 25yrds.

I'm not trying to hit anything at 25 yards. I'm shooting standard 7-10 yard distances.

EDIT: Believe me, it's more than a foot to the left at 25 yards as it is.

If you want to move the sight try putting the slide in the freezer for 10 to 30 minutes. Then wack on it. worked for me.

Ding ding ding! One-eyed fatman wins the prize. It worked. I put it in the vise, whacked it good with a drift and 3# hammer, and voila...back on center.

My sight looks like crap now, but oh well. Thanks man.
