Is this normal for the 9mm tactical slide? It looks like where the 2 paths from the machining intersect.

It's ugly as sin and apparently normal, I've got 3 Tacticals, two in 45 and one in 9mm and all three look like that.

Totally normal. The two machining directions allow for the barrel to drop and tilt when the pistol cycles.

Either that or it gives the recoil spring and guide rod enough room to clear frame bits and pieces when you install it on the slide prior to reassembling the gun.

The other XD models may not have it because of the shorter barrels. Its been a while since I owned a Tactical, so I could be wrong on this part.
