I received a 240 Super Varminter rifle that was built (the stock) by my grandfather. He was loading .270 brass necked down to 6mm. Does anyone in this forum have a suggestion on locating ammo for this rifle? I have about 18 rounds but don't want to fire this until I have replacement ammo.

How about necking down some 270 (or 30-06 or 25-06) brass to 6mm?
I'd hope you'd get he dies to the wildcat when you got he wildcat. If not, better track down where they went or look at re-barreling it. Maybe you could get a 243 die to make workable ammo for you.

It might be possible to re-chamber it to 240 Weatherby Magnum, but looking at it compared to a 25-06;

the taper protrudes further forward on the -06. I assume your 240 is similar in that regard.

Thanks for your input. The dies were given away with all of the other reloading equipment. I may have to look at re-chambering if I can't find someone to load for me. Or look a little closer at doing it myself.
