They would most likely never recoup their R&D and tooling cost. IHMO...

I agree with RatMan. Creating such a product is expensive. It makes sense for the 1911 and Glock market, because of the number of guns in the marketplace. The XD is just not there, yet. We can keep hoping, however. :)

I would buy one instantly. I think i'm going to get a P22. If there was a .22 xd that would be perfect.

I just thought of something.
Why would Would SA build something like a Walther P22 or SIG Mosquito. Those company's probably haven't sold even one unit.
What a silly Idea.
Why even try to introduce new shooters to your company and gain new clients and make $ with .22 versions of your great quality firearms.
Who wants to practice with cheap, inexpensive ammo anyway,
that would be dumb.
Its more fun just shooting a few rounds of expensive ammo and then try to save up your money, just so you can afford to shoot again.
Practice is really overrated anyway.
Better just to trust your Shooting instincts.
Dontcyha Think.
Come on guys, how bout that conversion.
Or better yet SA how about the "XD-.22"

Ok, now time for a not-so-veiled jab.

Try the search function. This subject has been brought up about once a month for as long as I've been here. If one had been announced since the last time this was brought up, there would be 863 new posts about it, and it would probably be stickied at the top of the forum.

It would be great if one existed, but it currently doesn't. Instead of complaining about it here, complain to Advantage Arms, Ciener, Springfield Armory, Etc. They would be the folks spending large coin for the R&D, manufacturing, shipping, marketing, etc. Then, once they go to all that trouble, more than half of the people that bitched about not being able to get one will say, "Those cost too much! I think I'll wait until the price comes down."

Sorry I didn't mean to offend anyone.
Obviously This subject has been brought up because of the overall interest.
Even you admit ... and I quote "It would be great if one (XD-22) existed"

Strength in numbers ... Just show them the forum!
If enough people show interest, SA might make a move.
As for R&D, manufacturing, shipping, marketing, etc.
I believe creating tooling off the existing 9 mm platform would be basic.
Check out some the Glock Kits
Finally after saving Hundreds $ in ammo ...
I'll be willing to bet that more than half of the people that bitched about not being able to get one will NOT say, "Those cost too much! I think I'll wait until the price comes down."
Thank you for your time, I do appreciate your opinion.

I came off harshly in my last response. Let me try to be a little more civil.

Take the Cieners kits for example. They are in the $200 range, give or take. Initially, if they came out with one, I would expect to see them START at $250, to try and recoup the initial cost to the company. I'm sure there is a percentage of XD owners that would buy them, but a good portion would hold off. As much as you, I and the rest of the forum like the XD series, it's not in the league with Glock and the 1911 as far as sheer numbers go. Cieners, if you got to look at their inner workings and market research, probably knows what percentage of Glock owners own one of their conversion units. Until the amount of XD owners gets up to a level where they are willing to make the financial investment, I don't see it happening. Honestly, it wouldn't shock me if we saw a conversion kit in about 2 years, but not much sooner.

Thanks again. I agree with your last response.
I already own a 357 & 1911, I've demo'd the XD-9 ... Increadible
Yet with no available conversions, My $ probably heading away from SA
As a photographer, I see huge $ being made on digital Point & Shoots.
Not a lot of $ in Professional Film Cameras.
What's my point.
The current XD is geared as a professional (law enforcement/CCW)
I believe SA could bring their numbers way up targeting & marketing to Gen population.
Plinkers, Youth, Women, Senior, Target, Novice & Intermediate etc.
I'm going to try and have SA respond to this post.
Thanks Again

There IS a conversion in the works as Old School mentioned. You have to consider though that the people that are making it have to do alot of research on it and testing of proto types. Hopefuly we will see a prototype in the coming year. :?:

Thanks for writing.
I guess I'll just have to be patient.
You and Old School say there is a conversion in the works.
Do you guys know who the actual manufacturer is ?
