I thought the only way to shoot a 1911 was thumb on top... I do tue same with any gun that has a 1911 style safety. I do want to put RAMI safety on my Shadow so I can actually get my left hand higher up on the fram and get my left thumb a lot higher up without getting pushed out by the safety.
On top. If it's underneath then under stress you may flick it on if you flinch at a loud noise or a surprise and I'm no SWAT member, but I think that would be a bad thing. Keep it over to keep the safety off until the fight is over.
