So I'm buying a new gun for Christmas and am having trouble deciding which one to get. I am trying to decide between the XDm Compact 45 or the Glock 30SF. I have a XDm and a Glock already and like them both alot. The problem I am having is justifying the extra cost of the XDm over the Glock. I get the local LE discount so the Glock will cost me 485 out the door where as the Xdm will cost me about 630.

    Any opinions or suggestions?

I have both Glock and XD guns just lke you and I also get the leo discount so I feel your pain. I have a G30sf and it is a very nice CCW gun when off duty. I sold my G26 that I had for 10 years not long after I started to carry the G30sf.

I would like to have a compact XDm .45 to go with my XD45 service model but I am not willing to pay the higher cost for the gun then an extra $135.00 on a PRP trigger kit.

I added the 4.5# connector and polished the trigger components on the 30sf to get a nice trigger just not as nice as a PRP on an XDm.

I like the look of the XDm better but don't know if that means that I should pay that much more for it.

Since the XDM 45 Compact is brand new, is there any chance you can shoot it and the Glcok 30sf before you decide?

Personally, I don't see the added value directed correlated with the added cost of the XDm.

That's quite the dilema. Kind of like choosing between GF's back in high school! The Glock 30SF is a great gun........but will you always be thinking of the XDM after you bought it?? You're getting a great deal on the Glock so I think that would sway me some that direction.

Well, I do too have both, BUT the XDM line (regular size and compact) fit much better in my hands than the Glocks. So how good of a grip you have and feel is paramount in keeping the slide aligned with the wrist, the elbow and your showder to give you the most support and accuracy in your shots.

So I (in my particular case) opted for the XDMs and paid w/o much hesitation. Now I only have one left, a G36 that I like a lot and who knows if I may trade it for the new XDMc 3.8 in 45 ACP. We'll see what happen in 2012!!!

I don't see the added value of the Xdm over the Xd either. I had both, I traded the Xdm. I did love the xdm but I love both my Xd's that I still have. The only slight advantage is that the compact Xdm's have the 3.8 barrel instead of the 3" that my XD sub has. The added rounds of the Xdm didn't help me either as I hardly ever carried it defensively. I carry my the subb 9+1 or the 1911 8+1. I like the glock pistols, I enjoy shooting the wife's g26. I believe my next handgun is going to be a G23 if I don't splurge and go for H&K USP 40. I really really want that gun, but I don't want to drop the money on it!
To the OP, both guns are excellent guns, they are both proven platforms. Fondle them both, shoot them both if you can, if you have the extra dough and the Xdm is your favorite get it. Why make a decision you will regret down the road? If you like the glock better get it.
