So I did a couple things today. Installed Meprolight night sights. I know everyone talks about how much better the Trijicons are, but I have loved the Mepro's on my Kimber, so I decided to stick with 'em. I then decided to color in the lettering on the slide with silver nail polish. Loving all of it so far. The next thing I want is Xtreme rubber grips for it, but from PRP's website it appears they don't have them for the .45 compact yet. =( Anyways, check out the pics and let me know what you think!

That does look great, how will it hold up though?

Guess it really doesn't matter at that price.

Thanks guys. From what I've read on here it should hold up decently. If it doesn't, it is easy enough to do. Everyone seems to be doing white, so I wanted to try silver. You can't tell from the pics as well, but in person you can really see the shine of the silver.

I cleaned the slide really well so there was no oil in it, dabbed some nail polish at the beginning of the writing, drag it across with an old credit card then wipe with a peice of paper with nail polish remover on it. I used paper at the suggestion of those on here to keep it flat so it doesn't pull the paint out of the writing. Super easy.

Meprolight for the win! I have the same on my 3.8c in 9mm. Love those sights.

Hell of a good start, I have the PRP grips myself, so as soon as they are available I would highly recommend them. Also, the PRP trigger kit is marvelous, I'd suggest that as well.

Thanks Croesius, I definitely will be placing an order form them as soon as they get those grips out. I am gonna do the gray rubber to offset the black and go with the silver engravings on the slide. I think it will look pretty nice. Can't wait! i didn't even realize it until I got those mepro's in that they are imported by Kimber. Kind of crazy.

I did notice the Meprolights have a small gap underneath them between the sight and slide in front of and behind the dovetail. Is this normal? I'm a little worried that they are wrong or something, but they went in just fine.

donk, that looks really good man. I might have to do that to my grip as well. I've been considering polishing the barrel. I just don't have a dremel.

the prp rubber grips for the xdmcompacts will fit the .45 nicely, there is a little bit of space, but Its not enough to justify waiting for who knows how long for them to make it for the .45
