My new 45 shoots about 4" low and 2" to the left. I haven't tried any factory ammo, but I've tried 4 different 200gr loads and 4 different 230gr loads. So far I've tried Unique, HS-6, and Bluedot, these are the powders I have on hand. Bullets have been Berry 200gr HP, and RAiner 230gr HP. Any suggestions are appreciated.

Did you bench the firearm or are you shooting by hand?

How many rounds have you put through the gun so far?

I am shooting off hand at about 20 yards. Only 70 rounds down the tube so far.

according to that famous shooting chart, that may be trigger slap, perhaps you are not used to the trigger yet?

i dont know how mad your skills are - but twenty yards offhand...how does it aim at 7 yards?

Use a benchrest to be sure.

    Well, I just finished reading
. Seems to be a common issue with different end results. Looks like more range time is in order.

I'm left handed and have been very consistently low and right, aka same effect as you but for left-hander. On my last range trip I noticed that if I kind of twitched the last bit of travel I was right on. After getting home and dry-firing I have concluded that I was "pushing" the shot with my trigger. Today I will test using the muscles of the middle section of my finger more, sort of a more "hook-fingered" pull. I expect good results. I'll let you know when I get back from the range but you might want to try that. It seems to me the XD is very sensitive to finger pressure and range of motion / the direction of the pull more than the few other handguns I have shot. I did notice however that I shot a friends CZ to the right also while he was right on with my XD.

I'm no expert by a long shot, just sharing since I've been refining my tecnique the last couple weeks on this very effect.

I had a left-hander shoot mine to see if the same effect would be found for both of us (I generally shoot right-handed). He is a better shot than I am, but he was hitting low and right, just like me (well, not JUST like me--he had tighter groups and managed to stay more on-target). Of course, we should've been testing this at 7 yards instead of 50 feet, but we were just shooting.

Do you have stock factory sights? The reason I ask is because my XD9 came with factory installed Heine Straight Eight night sights and they shot 6 inches low and right. I drifted the sight to comp. for windage but it still shoots low to this day. Conversely, the XD45 I bought, which came with the stock factory white dot sights were dead nuts center. The TFO's I just put on are the same, dead nuts center at 25 yards.

Also, what is your skill level? If you're new to shooting, 20 yards is an awfully long shot to start at.

I have several handguns and have never noticed this problem before. All of my shooting with the XD has been after work, and I was kind of rushing it to get home to get some projects done. I'm lucky enough to be able to shoot at my work place. I will have to take some time to slow down and concentrate on my trigger pull. Sights are factory white dots.

Have some else shoot it, also try shooting from a suport/rest position, but if you can get a laser bore or a ransom rest to confirmed. That's how I found the factory sights were way off.

I have this problem of jerking off my shots. So lots of my hits go left of center target. I let this Marine handgun trainer shoot my XD-45 service and having never fired the XD-45s he placed five quick shots in a really tight group right in the center of target.
So my XD is not the problem of my left of center hits.;)
