Can someone tell me what is the difference between all these models? I love how the XD subcompact 40 fits in my hand. But I haven't shot any XD yet. I am still in the learning phase and hopefully will be shooting one/some soon. But I can't really find anywhere that tells the difference between them all. Or is it just newer models, so they add a letter after it, to show it has been updated/upgraded in some way.

Also, each seem to have slight variations of barrel length. Why have a 3" and a 3.3"? Does it really matter that much?

    Anyhow, thanks for the info.

The XD is the full size original. The XDm is really just an improved XD (it has switchable backstraps and larger capacity magazines) and is available in full size, or compact size. The XDsc is the sub compact model of the XD and is smaller than the compact XDm. The XDs is the new compact single-stack .45.

do a little more research on your own first before asking such a BROAD question.

i gather you probably won't get the answer you are looking for with that type of shotgun approach.

The real question is why do they keep trying to change what was already great in the regular XD...;)

Actually, I already have gotten some good answers (other than yours which didn't really add anything). I didn't know if there was something that I was missing or if it was just new years, adding new models, sizes, colors, etc. So I did get the answer I expected and validated what I had thought. Thanks to those who answered the question.

As far as the sizes go, bigger guns are for greater accuracy and smaller are for better concealment. Compare it to ice cream. They're pretty much all good, but we each have a favorite flavor.

Very well said and this can also apply to calibers. I go back and forth between 9mm and .40 all the time. I like them both.

I would really recommend going to Springfield's website, and click on the XD section, they will tall you about all of the different versions.
