If cost of target ammo was not a factor I would carry a 45acp. Probibly in some sort of 1911 type pistol.

My concern is having to God forbid use the weapon and get it taken away. That is why I am leaning away from a 1911. If that weren't a concern I would get a SA EMP. I am also with you on the cost of ammo for the 45.

I alternate between .40 and 9mm. I have no doubt either will do their job if I do mine. Primarily I do carry the 9mm.

I train with 9mm and .40, but exclusively carry the .40.

9mm vs .40 in what platform? are we talking XDsc here, or any gun?

the gun would be what dictated my choice of which round to use... I.E., in a larger gun, I'd probably choose the .40. in a smaller, lighter gun, definitely the 9mm...

i shoots 9mm more accurately, so i go with 9mm.
i would suggest go with the biggest caliber that u can shoot the most accurate

All my carry pistols are 9mm except my LCP which is 380auto.
I don't care for the 40cal round as a whole, too snappy for me.

In the XDsc series 9mm gets you more rounds in the mag...
