I keep hearing about JHP jams on MPs. Do XDs have this problem?

The decision between a MP or XD is a tough one. While there are great reports of flawless high round results with the MP (including on this forum) there also seems to be some of them going back for ramp polishing to shoot JHP, new mags, ejecting straight back at the shooter, etc.

    Ref JHP issue: http://mp-pistol.com/boards/viewtopic.php?t=10218&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=0

In the short time I have been here, I don't hear about those kind of things with the XD.
Do you guys have any problems with JHP feeding?
Have you had to send your XD back?
If you did have to send it back, how long was the turn around?
What is the biggest PITA I should expect from a new XD?

Same here. Racking my brain a bit, I think the only ammunition I've ever heard about giving the XD fits is semi-wadcutters. Hollowpoints and normal roundnose ball-type (no matter the brand) all seem to feed fine.

I have over 1500 rounds thru my XD .45 with no problems using any ammo: wad-cutters and/or hollowpoints(Remington Golden Sabres and Hornady). I have had one FTF due to a bad cartridge that was thrown away early on...since then, not one single burp or hiccup! Seems that any brand ammo, including Wolf works

I haven't fired many hp's due to the huge cost of the good quality expanders ( 1.00 a round basically!), but I am sure some limp wristing was involved due to some one handed shooting that I did without even concentrating, and no feed problems or anything whatsoever. I fired off some TAPS .40's and some speer gold dot 9mm's. Not for fraught either, I was actually doing ballistics testing by firing into dead deer necks, and 1 episode of shooting into skinned dead foxes that I had stacked up. Soft tissue on the foxes produced a beautiful gold dot slug btw, nice expansion.

The fuq of it is that I don't shoot my .45 as much as I should because I am saving ammo! But I will tell you, Winchester Super-X JHP, 180 grain Buffalo bore +P JHP better damn fire because I bought in deap!

fyi, I shoot my XD9SC ALOT, nothing has failed in any way in 1000 rounds or better.

I did buy UMC Rem. .45 FMJ today, 250 rounds for $69.00, No tax, no freight. I should buy more tomorrow....

A lot of people here use WWB with no issues. My case just put a sour taste in mouth.

In 2,000 rounds through mine, I've had three misfeeds. All FMJ.

Soooo - anyone have to send your XD back to correct a problem, especially FTF ?

The lack of problems that I can find on the XD vs the MP have me strongly leaning in the XD direction. About the biggest issue I found on XDs was rust early on. Rust is a long way from a gun that won't reliably shoot a primary defensive round made by a reputable company.

I did have a magazine that would fail to feed jHP's. It was the hi-cap 13 round mag for my .45c. I sent it back to springfield and they replaced it. I kept the grip sleeve that they charge 10 bucks for.

I use Speer Gold Dots in my XD 9 Service. Never a hiccup with 'em. Never a hiccup with anything actually. :)

    XD40 Service.

Federal Hydra-Shock, Federal HST, Remington Golden Sabre, WWB, UMC bulk. Not a single problem caused by good condition ammo. One fail to feed and subsiquent PITA to remove the round caused by my failure to inspect some gun show reloads. It would have been a problem in any firearm, therefore I wouldn't consider it a malfunction.

Look at Federal's EFMJ line. Always get good expansion & they can't get clogged with clothing like regular HP's. They feed reliably because they're shaped like a FMJ......
